Christian Working Mom Encouragement to Choose Faith Over Approval
(Scripture-based reflection from Ezekiel and Galatians)
There are moments when a sermon feels less like teaching and more like an answer to prayer.
Today’s Scripture landed that way for me.
Not because it was loud, but because it reminded me of something God had already whispered, quietly, clearly, personally.
For many Christian working moms, this is the tension we live in daily. We pray earnestly, asking God for direction, wisdom, and peace. We sense His leading in our hearts. And yet, instead of moving forward in faith, we often pause and look outward, seeking approval, confirmation, and validation from others.
God Speaks Before We Seek Approval
In the book of Ezekiel, God calls a prophet into a difficult assignment. Ezekiel is sent to a people who may not listen, may not agree, and may resist his message. Still, God says:
“You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen.” (Ezekiel 2:7)
God did not ask Ezekiel to be perfect.
He did not ask him to be popular.
He asked him to be faithful.
This truth is deeply relevant Christian working mom encouragement today. Whether you are navigating career decisions, motherhood, ministry, or a calling God placed on your heart, faithfulness often comes before clarity and long before approval.
When Approval Quietly Replaces Obedience
Why Christian Working Moms Struggle with Approval
As working moms, we carry responsibility, deadlines, family needs, and expectations. It’s natural to want reassurance. We ask questions like:
Does this make sense?
Is this realistic for my season?
What will people think?
Am I qualified enough?
Slowly, without realizing it, approval can replace obedience.
Not because we lack faith, but because we want to do the right thing, protect our families, and avoid mistakes. Yet Scripture reminds us that God often speaks before the world agrees.
Faith Over Approval: Paul’s Reminder in Galatians
Paul speaks directly to this struggle in Galatians:
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10)
This is not condemnation. It is an invitation.
Paul reminds believers that seeking approval can quietly pull us away from our calling. Not through rebellion, but through hesitation. When pleasing others becomes our filter, obedience becomes delayed.
For the Christian working mom, choosing faith over approval often means trusting what God already planted in your heart, even when others do not fully understand.
God Calls Us to Be Faithful, Not Perfect
Obedience Before Clarity
God does not ask us to have everything figured out.
He asks us to remember what He already sowed into our hearts.
That idea that keeps returning.
That conviction that will not leave you alone.
That quiet sense of “this is what God is calling me to do,” even in a busy, demanding season.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
The world rewards certainty and external validation. God honors obedience, trust, and faithfulness.
A Word of Encouragement for the Christian Working Mom
If you are balancing work, motherhood, and faith, let this be your reminder today:
You do not need everyone’s permission if God has already spoken.
You do not need to be perfect to move forward in obedience.
You do not need to please people who were never assigned to your calling.
God knew your season. He knew your capacity. He knew your limitations, and still entrusted you with what He placed in your heart.
Come Back to the First Whisper
Trusting God in a Busy Season of Motherhood
Before the opinions.
Before the confirmations.
Before the comparisons.
Return to the first whisper.
Like Ezekiel, we are called to be faithful whether others listen or not. Like Paul, we are reminded that obedience to God may cost us approval. And like every woman God has ever used, we are not called to perfection, but to faithfulness.
Ask yourself today:
What did God already tell me, before I asked anyone else?
That whisper still matters.
And it is still enough.
Short Reflective Prayer
Lord, help me quiet the noise of opinions and expectations around me. Remind me of what You first whispered to my heart. Give me the courage to choose faith over approval, obedience over fear, and trust over perfection. Teach me to be faithful in this season, knowing You are guiding every step. Amen.
